Salman Khan starrer "Ready" is about to hit the screens and one of the highlights of the movie is said to be the song "Character Dheela" where he will be seen paying tribute to legendary actors Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar and Dharamendra.

Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film, which stars Asin Thottumkal in the feamle lead, is slated for a June 3 release.

Insiders have been raving about "Character Dheela", which has more than one attraction to look forward to. For starters, the groovy number has a special guest appearance by Zarine Khan, who will be seen shaking a leg with Salman.

Secondly, the song will see Salman and Zarine playing different hit Hindi movie pairs of the past - the actors will be seen playing Shahzada Saleem and Anarkali respectively in one act. In another, Salman and Zarine will pay tribute to the showman Raj Kapoor and actress Nargis and the two will also recreate the magic of Viru and Basanti on screen.

The song has been choreographed by Mudassar Khan, who has previously choreographed Salman in the superhit "Dabangg".

With an eye on adding glamour, the latest entrant in the Indian Premier League, the Kochi team is in talks with Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif to be the brand ambassadors for the Indi Commandos.

“We are currently talking to Salman and Katrina for endorsement deals,” Kochi IPL Team co-owner Mukesh Patel says. While Katrina has been seen promoting the Bangalore Royal Challengers in the past, Salman has been reported to be keen on buying an IPL team.

Salman KatrinaIndustry observers pointed out that if the deal is signed, the Kochi IPL team (officially named Indi Commandos) would get the much needed boost on the glamour front with the Dabangg of Bollywood, Salman promoting the team along with Katrina.

They pointed out that IPL is not only about of cricket, and glamour plays an important part, with the likes of Shilpa Shetty adding zing for Rajasthan Royals and Shah Rukh Khan doing the same for Kolkata Knight Riders, while Preity Zinta ensures glamour for Kings XI Punjab.

The Kochi IPL team is even ready with a promotional video directed by film maker Priyadarshan, which is likely to be on air soon.

Dabangg is box-office history. And now Sonu Sood is gearing up to create history again with the Hindi-Tamil-Telugu trilingual Rana, which features Rajnikanth in a triple role, and has Sood as the main baddie.

He was confirmed a week ago.“I’ve seen Robot twice, once with my friends and then with my family. And I was spellbound by the film’s special effects and Rajni sir’s star charisma.

In a week’s time, I start shooting Buddha with Mr Bachchan (Amitabh Bachchan) and then, in April, I will be working with Rajni sir.

Imagine a small-town boy with no film background working with legends that we’ve grown up idolising and still in awe of. I feel blessed,” marvels Sood.

Rajnikanth was reportedly keen on casting the Bollywood actor for the much-coveted negative role after seeing him as Cheddi Singh in Dabangg and Pasupathi in the Tamil blockbuster, Arundhati.

He was also impressed with his act in Jodhaa-Akbar, as Rana is a period-action film along the lines of the Hollywood hit, 300.

“Rajni sir hugged me the day we met and said he was looking forward to working with me. I can’t wait for the camera to roll,” says Sood.

Rana, directed by KS Ravi Kumar of Muthu and Narasimha fame, will be shot in India and abroad with foreign technicians. It’s touted to be the most expensive Indian film ever made.

Deepika Padukone is the leading lady, and the film has music by AR Rahman. Robot cameraman Ratnavelu returns as the cinematographer.

The film is being co-produced by Eros International and Ocher Studios, the production house run by Soundarya Rajinikanth.

Meanwhile, work on the script of Dabangg 2 is on and it is expected to start by the year-end. Cheddi’s twin returns to avenge his death in the sequel and Sood says, “Dabangg is a huge brand today and the responsibility will now be greater.”

After an acrimonious fallout, Salman Khan and Abhinav Kashyap have patched up for good. The actor-director duo of 2010’s biggest hit ‘Dabangg’ had fallen apart after Abhinav quoted an outrageous fee to direct his next film.

However, after being snubbed by top producers for his astounding demands, Abhinav has made his peace with the Khan brothers and is now busy laying down detailed plans to direct a sequel to ‘Dabangg’.

Confirming the news of fallout, a source told a daily, “Abhinav is a good director, but the success of the film may have gone to his head. However, the fallout is a thing of the past and it will only be fitting if Abhinav directs the sequel.”

According to reports, Kashyap peeved a lot of producers by making astonishing demands. “He demanded more than Rs 10 crore from Eros International while negotiating for a film which did not materialise for obvious reasons. Kashyap next had a meeting with PVR Pictures. There too he demanded something between Rs 15 and 18 crore”, adds the source.

“When Salman learnt about Kashyap`s pricey ways, he responded with putting him off his radar,” says the source.

Nevertheless, Abhinav has now cleared the air with Salman. “We have Kashyap`s dates in place, which were finalised only last week. Both Salman and Arbaaz love Abhinav. Let`s not get into what went wrong, but look forward to a killer sequel,” adds the source.

The 22-year old Mexican model was thrilled about making her debut in Bollywood, which Navarrete believes is one of the most colourful movie industries in the world.

Salman Khan is a true friend in need for the actor has expressed a keen interest to work with Farah Khan at a time when her film ‘Tees Maar Khan’ has fared miserably at the Box Office.

The dishy actor has reportedly told the filmmaker that he is willing to sign her next flick even if no other actor is. This comes amid speculations that Farah after her recent debacle is set to go back to Shah Rukh for her next.

Confirming the news, a source told a daily, "After the release of ‘Tees Maar Khan’ when Salman heard that Farah Khan was feeling low, he called her and told her to start writing her next film, and that he would star in it, whenever it was ready."

So while most actors would have reservations working with a director whose last was dubbed a flop by critics, Sallu has no such reservations.

"Salman goes out of his way to help anyone he loves. It`s not all business with him. When he heard from mutual friends that Farah was feeling down because people were pulling her film down, he called her and told her that he would act in her next.

And he said that if she didn`t have a script, he would even provide a script that he likes, and she can direct it," said the source.

Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan might have gone public on Karan Johar’s ‘Koffee With Karan’ and duly apologised to all his friends, who all of a sudden turned away. However, SRK’s arch nemesis Salman Khan is least bothered to bury the hatchet.

Apparently, Shah Rukh wanted to start the New Year on a positive note, thinking to get back his old friends but Salman Khan is not in the mood to forgive and forget SRK.

Interestingly, Salman is unmoved by SRK’s apology. It is believed that Salman disclosed to a close friend that if SRK really wanted to apologise, he would have personally called him up or visited his house.

Buzz has it that Salman did not like SRK’s extended melodrama and so called public apologies on Karan Johar’s ‘Koffee With Karan’.

Well, it seems that 2011 is no better for Shah Rukh Khan as there is little or no hope of reconciliation between Salman and SRK. Hope SRK tries some other tricks to placate his good-old friends!

The New Year began on an inauspicious note for Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan on Monday.Both Bollywood superstars left Dubai and arrived at Mumbai simultaneously, within a minute of each other, prompting passengers at the airport and people outside come to receieve them to believe that the actors had buried their rivalry and were back to being friends.

It was high drama at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport that night. First King Khan showed up outside at 9.23 pm, then seconds later at 9.24 pm, the King of 2010 - Dabangg Salman strode out. People gaped, then quickly asked other Mumbai returnees streaming out if they had been travelling on the same flight as the actors and if SRK and Sallu had been spotted talking to each other.

Of course, nothing like this happened. Both Khans travelled on chartered flights. And, their almost simultaneous departure caused excitement at the Dubai airport as well. They were mobbed by Middle Eastern and Indian fans, hounded for autographs and besieged to pose for photographs.

Yes Salman Khan can actually forgive! With the record of maximum enemies in film industry, Salman Khan has decided not to add another one to the list. The actor has reportedly buried the hatchet with Hrithik Roshan.

Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan had a fallout after Sallu took potshots at Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish in which Hrithik Roshan starred.

Hrithik, who generally keeps to himself came out and called Sallu pompous. The war didn’t end there. Salman went ahead and decided to clash the release of his upcoming film Ready with Hrithik’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

But that was it. Hrithik Roshan was invited to Sohail’s birthday bash, and then the unexpected happened. When Salman and Hrithik came face to face, Sallu immediately hugged him.

Both of them had a long chat post the lovey dovey hug. If this was not enough, Salman even requested Hrithik to stay longer than he was planning to.

Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari is now ruing over a tweet of actor Arbaaz Khan which said, “I would try save Ashmit by sending a SMS,” insinuating that the Khan brothers Salman (the host of the reality show) and Arbaaz, have ‘scripted’ his eviction from Bigg Boss. Manoj is also learnt to have told a television channel that his eviction could be a ‘conspiracy’ against Bhojpuri actors.

“Mr Tiwari is singling out Arbaaz just because he is unable to digest his defeat opposite Ashmit Patel and probably feels the need to blame someone for it. If Arbaaz tweeted, what’s wrong about it? Doesn’t Arbaaz have his own identity, independent of Salman Khan? Just because he is Salman’s brother, can Manoj Tiwari hold him guilty for tweeting? By doing so, he’s being a petty superstar,” reacted Ashmit’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar.

In his moment of embarrassment, Manoj seems to have conveniently missed out the fact that Karan Johar, Amisha Patel, Manyata and Sanjay Dutt, Farah Khan, Ali Merchant, Hrishant Goswami, Ishq Bector and a host of Bollywood people, along with Ashmit’s growing fan-following, put in their bit to help him win the round opposite the Bhojpuri superstar. We are aware how most of them SMS’d, emailed, posted messages on their Blackberry Messengers, Twitter and Facebook and even spread the word-of-mouth.

Salman Khan has extended his support to dimpled lass Preity Zinta, who is now challenging the authenticity of the news of her being involved in drug abuse case.

The generous Khan is all praise for the actress and has told her that he will be right there with her through thick and thin.

"Hope all gets sorted. Standing right besides you and hope so does the rest of the industry, fans, press and the law,” a daily quoted Salman as saying.

Salman has been in awe of Preity’s fighting and her “never say die” spirit and he feels that she is truly a woman of substance.

The actress lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell in Mumbai to challenge the false allegations.

Reportedly, Preity claims that the fake news was nothing but a result of a bitterness a journalist had for her.

Praising the lady who played his love interest in many films, Salman wrote on his blog, "She has to get her team back.

I have never met anyone so straight, clear, positive, clean, hard working and some one who fights her own battle single-handedly."

And the bubbly actress in response said, "Salman can I please borrow your muscles? Only for a day I promise. Need to Dishum Dishum!"

It seems like Mahesh Manjrekar has waited enough. The long-pending Hindi version of Marathi film Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho was to star Salman Khan as an ambitious and academically-obsessed father of a boy who wants loves playing cricket.

About a year ago when Manjrekar offered Khan the role, he seemed eager to "break the mould" and do the unexpected in the shoes of a working class father of teenage kids.

That was before Dabangg. Now, ordinary characters are out of Khan’s career. Life-like is not acceptable. Larger-than-life is the need of the hour.

The Hindi adaptation of Shikshanachya Aacha Gho no longer enthuses him. Apparently, Manjrekar has moved on too. Bengali superstar Presanjeet is set to play the lead in the Bengali adaptation of the Marathi film, and he might just play the lead in the Hindi version too.

The other option is National Award-winning Telugu actor Prakash Raj, who played a villain opposite Salman Khan in Wanted.

Manjrekar is unwilling to admit he has given up on Khan. "Salman and I discussed the film while shooting for Anees Bazmi’s Ready. He was very excited. But he still hasn’t found the time to see the Marathi original. I’ll speak to him when we resume shooting for Ready, " he said.

In the meanwhile, Manjrekar admits that Prakash Raj is doing two versions of the film. "Prakash liked the Marathi film, and agreed to do both, Tamil and Telugu versions. He will also direct both versions. "

Manjrekar will play a supporting character (a Muslim money lender) in the Tamil and Telugu versions.

As for the much-awaited Hindi adaptation, it seems to have slipped out of Salman Khan’s hands.

Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali might have been best of pals at one time but now the two are nothing short of sworn enemies. And it’s all owing to Aishwarya Rai starrer ‘Guzaarish’ that had Hrithik instead of Salman in the lead.

And believe it or not but Salman is going around town word-bashing Bhansali and his movie ‘Guzaarish’ in the most rough words possible. The actor said that ‘Guzaarish’ wasn’t even watched by dogs- “koi kutta bhi nahin gaya”.

It all started when Salman gifted Bhansali a DVD of Christopher Nolan’s `The Prestige`, which allegedly became the starting point for ‘Guzaarish’. However when Bhansali decided to cast Hrithik instead of Salman in the lead role, Sallu was much too angry.

And now the actor has openly spoken, rather trashed, Bhansali’s latest work on a public forum. Not mincing any words, Salman on a recent award function took sleazy potshots at the taskmaster.

The actor while answering a little girl’s questions on how to make it big in showbiz said, “Jaake usko milo. Voh tumhare pe picture bana dega, khud khoob kamayega, lekin tumko kuch nahin dega,” (Go and meet Bhansali, he’ll make a film on you. He’ll make pots of money but won’t pay you a dime).

And when one person in the audience asked him for his opinion on ‘Guzaarish’, Sallu said, “Arre, usme toh makhi udd rahi thi, lekin koi machhar bhi nahi gaya dekhne. Arre, koi kutta bhi nahin gaya,”

Rumour has it that the actor asked for Rs 50 lakh to appear on Karan Johar’s Koffee With KaranIf all goes well, Salman Khan will be seen on Koffee With Karan. Those who believe this is absurd and impossible, given the director’s closeness to Sallu’s arch enemy Shah Rukh Khan, should know that on Saturday night, KJo and SK were together at Salman’s apartment and the partying continued wee hours of Sunday morning.

For this season, the KWK host has been wooing star guests who have never been on his show before. Aamir Khan and Kiran have confirmed their presence on the show to promote her directorial debut Dhobi Ghaat.

Akshay Kumar whose Tees Maar Khan releases on December 25, has also received feelers to grace the show with his wife Twinkle Khanna, and has been told he can use it to promote his film.

Last year, the Dabangg actor was interviewed by Karan Johar for his other TV show Lift Kara De but the actor has never been on KWK, and the host is keen that he join the elusive guest list this year.

Says an industry source, "Sometime back, Karan had asked Bhai (Salman) to come on the show. And Bhai told him that he was willing to come on the show if he was paid. Karan pointed out that none of the celebrities were paid to be on the show.

To which Salman said that even he didn’t want the money (R 50 lakh) for himself, but for his charity Being Human.

KJo said that it was not a norm to pay actors to be on the show and the channel would not shell out big bucks for it, but he would give a personal cheque to the actor, because he was keen to have him on the show.

Knowing Bhai’s sense of humour, one can’t be sure if he was serious or joking about wanting the money. "

On Saturday night, Salman and Karan bonded. Hrishant Goswami was also present. The model impressed Khan with his attitude in the Bigg Boss house, was evicted on Friday night, and was also present at the bash.
