Filmmakers are known to shell out lots of money to shoot at actual or authentic locations to get the ambience and mood right. In the case of Double Dhamaal, producer Ashok Thakeria had to construct a set of a casino at Mehboob Studio in Bandra for a price of R 1.5 crore.

Mallika Sherawat’s item song ’Jalebi bai...’ and part of the climax of his forthcoming comedy, Double Dhamaal, which he’s making in association with Reliance Entertainment, will be shot here.

Though director Indra Kumar could have filmed the sequences in casinos in Goa or Macau, he didn’t think it would be feasible. "They would only let us shoot for a few hours in a day, and that too only at night. Since we required to shoot all day long, we had no option, but to build this set," says Thakeria. Major parts of the film’s climax have been shot in Macau as well. It was the pictures that the production team clicked on their trips to Macau that inspired the set design in Mumbai.

"Credit goes to art director Tanushree Sarkar for putting up such a brilliant set. Other actors and filmmakers would drop in to have a look around as they had heard a lot about it," he says, adding that it is worth the R 1.5 crore it cost to make in two-odd weeks. But he’s unperturbed about the expense, as he feels the song will go on to become a chartbuster.

Meanwhile, Sherawat was rubbing shoulders with US President, Barack Obama on Saturday night. The sex siren, whose film Politics Of Love is set against the 2008 Presidential election, was invited for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Sherawat’s item number, which has been composed by Anand Raj Anand and choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, also features Sanjay Dutt, Kangna Ranaut, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Ashish Chowdry and Jaaved Jaffery.

The team became so attached to the casino that it broke their hearts to learn that after completing their 12-day shoot, the set would be dismantled. "We were telling each other that if we could manage a license, then the casino would continue to stand and actually function," he says, laughing.

However, the film’s promotion will not start with the ’Jalebi bai...’ number. "We’ll promote it somewhere in the middle of the campaign, closer to the film’s release on July 24," he adds.

The video has been posted on the popular celebrity portal http://www.hollywood.tv/ and shows Mallika talking in an American accent.

Her friend asks her about "reports of working with the likes of Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp" which she laughs off with her trademark giggle.

Fully aware that such videos go viral minutes after hitting the web, Mallika poses, pouts and answers all the questions excitedly.

In fact, she even shows off her newly-purchased shades and asks for opinion! Buzz is that this is an attempt to get publicity for her film Love, Barack.

Cannes Yatra

Mallika plans to take one of her Twitter followers on a date to the Cannes Film Festival this year. She took to her micro-blogging site telling her fans they, too, can join her on the red carpet.

Perez Hilton

Mallika will appear on prolific US blogger Perez Hilton’s website talking about fitness, Bollywood and her future plans. Perez, who’s notorious for his nasty comments on celebrities, met the actress and conducted an interview.

The Hisss hysteria may have fizzled off in thin air, but Mallika Sherawat is now set to return on the small screen with a dance reality show.

If Sony has got Madhuri Dixit as a judge for the dance show Jhalak Dhikhla Ja, its rival channel Colors has roped in Mallika Sherawat for its upcoming show Chak Dhoom Dhoom for which auditions have already begun.

The participants of CDD are kids and this year they will contest in groups rather than individually.

Mallika will begin shooting for the show from December 14 onward. She is rumoured to be pocketing Rs. 45 lakh per episode.

She is making a lot of news, either for being the best dressed or dancing with a snake on the red carpet, and is having a gala of a time, rubbing shoulders with the who's who of the entertainment industry. So the latest on the Sherawat front is that, the actress was attending charity event called “Cinema against AIDS”, a non- profit organization dedicated to AIDS research.

Apparently, Miss Sherawat was the only Indian actor present among the likes of Gerard Butler, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Rock star Mick Jagger and designers like Karl Lagerfeld and Roberto Cavalli. So the tale goes like this, Mallika Sherawat paid a kings ransom to a photog to click her pictures, every time she rubbed shoulders with a famous name.

Most of them turned down Mallika's “generous offer” while, Fashion maverick Roberto Cavalli was the only one who extended the courtesy towards her by graciously paying her a compliment and kissing her hand.

Mallika, who looked ravishing in a Dolce and Gabbana gown, was not satisfied with just one photo opportunity, so she decided to move on to tabloids' favorite princess Paris Hilton, but the wild child was not in a mood to play nice, with the Indian version of herself.
