Lone ranger Bipasha Basu and lovelorn Shahid Kapoor are making the most of their ‘single’ status.Buzz has it that the couple recently met over dinner and was heard talking about working in a film together soon.

On Saturday night, Bipasha and Shahid were spotted having dinner at a swanky Bandra cafe with director Siddharth Anand and his better half Mamta.

Apparently, Siddharth is a close pal of Ranbir Kapoor and has also worked with Bipasha in ‘Bachna Aye Haseeno.’ So far, Shahid and Siddharth had never worked and were seen bonding at the dinner.

Apart from casual conversation, Shahid, Bipasha and Siddharth discussed the possibility of doing a film together.

Talking to a daily, a source said, “Bipasha is really fond of Siddharth. She wanted him to come for a casual dinner with Shahid. They were joking around and having a good time. Shahid was quite interested in discussing the possibility of doing a romantic film with Bips.

A few months ago, there was buzz that Sid wanted to remake the Tom Cruise film ‘Knight and Day’ with Shahid and Priyanka for a leading production house. However, the project never took off.”

“The conversation wasn`t seriously about work. The motive behind the dinner meeting was to catch up, but they couldn`t help discussing working in the future,” added the source.

Shahid and Bipasha were last seen together in ‘Shikhar’ (2005), but the duo wasn’t cast opposite each other.

After her break-up with long-time beau John Abraham, Bipasha Basu is now being linked to her "Singularity" co-star Josh Hartnett. But the dusky beauty is unperturbed and believes link-up rumours are a part of her profession."Link-up rumours don’t bother me any more. "Singularity", a period film, is being helmed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Roland Joffe. The film, which kicked off production in Queensland, later moved to India and was shot at places like Gwalior and Orchha in Madhya Pradesh.After completing the shoot in Orchha, where the temperature was 40 degrees Celsius, Bipasha immediately flew down to Murmansk, where the temperature is -35 degrees Celsius, to shoot for Abbas-Mastan’s "Players".

The film also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Bobby Deol, Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Omi Vaidya and Sikander Kher.Asked how she was coping with this sudden change of weather, the actress said: "Coming to this schedule is an experience. There is nothing much that you can do here because there is just snow... it’s very barren, very few people, and communication is also tough since most people only speak Russian here. Hence a lot of sign language and broad smiles work."

"The team I’m working with now is very special. I get along with everyone on the set very well. So the excitement to work is there," she added.So is she a winter lover or a summer fan?"I’m a crazy person, my preferences change with every year. I love the sun because I love the pool and the beach. But winter is fine too, since I was born in January in Delhi, I take less to the cold," she answered.

Director Roland Joffe loves India and Indian films. One is not sure anymore if he loves Abbas-Mustan as much as loves the rest of the Indian movie industry. Eighteen years ago, he shot The City Of Joy with Om Puri and Shabana Azmi in Kolkata (then Calcutta).

Now he’s shooting a Maratha period film, Singularity, with Bipasha Basu in Australia.

Bipasha and Roland hit it off instantly in Brisbane. While shooting, they got down to discussing each other’s work. And that’s when Bipasha unwittingly let the cat out of the bag.

Says a source, "Bipasha and Roland were discussing one another’s work. Roland asked Bipasha to name her most well-known films.

Bipasha immediately named Jism, Raaz, Ajnabee, Dhoom 2, Shob Charita Kalponik (Bengali) Corporate, Lamhaa and Race. Roland got interested in Race and Bipasha narrated the film’s plot to Roland, who seemed more than casually interested in Race."

At a point during the narration Joffe yelled out, "Hey, that’s my film!" Before the startled actress could ask Joffe what he meant, he told her that his 1999 film Goodbye, Lover had the same plot as Race.

Says the source, "Roland was shocked to know that Race had ripped off his film without his permission."

Apparently the director of such renowned films as The Killing Fields and The Mission now intends to take action against copyright infringement.

What Joffe would be less amused to know is that a majority of Abbas-Mustan’s film are unauthorised ripoffs of Hollywood films. Abbas-Mustan’s Ajnabee was Consenting Adults, Aitraaz was the desi version of Disclosure and Daraar was ripped off from Sleeping With The Enemy.

With American studios clamping down on illegitimate adaptations, Abbas-Mustan have planned an official remake of The Italian Job. But now that Joffe has belatedly become aware of his film’s ripoff, he’s apparently contemplating taking delayed legal action.

"Whoa! It’s been physically tiring...the shoot! Lots of camel riding, compensated by the awesome locations," Bipasha posted on microblogging site Twitter.

Bipasha Basu is being pampered on the sets of her English film Singularity directed by Roland Joff and co-starring Josh Hartnett. The actress has been put up at the Palazzo Versace on the main beach of the Gold Coast, a hotel with the signature style and design from the House of Versace.

Bipasha Basu is housed in a condominium in one of the world’s first fashion-branded hotels, known for its luxurious surroundings and beauty. According to a source, the actress asked to be put up at this particular hotel.Getting her way

Says an insider, "Everyone from the cast and crew are staying at different places. Roland and Bipasha are in condos while Josh is at a place on the Broad Beach, as he didn’t want to be at the hotel. Bips made her preference known and she got her way."

Her condo includes a living room, master bedroom, attached guest room and guest bathroom. The source discloses, "It has all the amenities of an apartment including a kitchen and enjoys the hotel facility of house keeping as well. Through the day, Bips is on sets and only has dinner at the condo. There’s a chef to cook special meals for her. Though she is not on any particular diet, she is particular about what she eats."

Actress Bipasha Basu was taken in for a shock after a women tried to smooch her at Bangalore airport.

The actress wrote on microblogging site Twitter: "Funniest thing happened at BLR airport entrance! One aunty pulled me dwn (down) almost pinned me to smooch me!

Somehow I was saved! Near escape!" And this is not the first time that Bipasha went through this kind of weird experience.

’Lamhaa’, the Sanjay Dut-Bipasha Basu starrer, about turmoil in the Kashmir valley, has been banned in the Middle East. Sanjay posted on his Twitter page , "First the premiere of Lamhaa was not allowed in Kashmir.. Now the Middle East puts a ban on the release of the film in their countries.

There had been speculation earlier that ’Lamhaa’ would be banned in Kashmir itself. Ultimately that led to the premiere there being cancelled.

The movie was also in the news because Aishwarya Rai was apparently mocked in one of the dialogues. Anupam Kher, who plays a Kashmiri separatist leader in the film, says in one scene: "When Aishwarya Rai is unable to see the moon, it makes news.

But why doesn’t the media report the plight of those thousands of Kashmiri wives who haven’t seen their husbands for years?"

Director Rahul Dholakia clarified, "The dialogue in the film by the separatist leaders uses Mrs.

Rai Bachchan as a metaphor to the Bollywood centric media who prefer covering the personal lives of icons instead of covering the real life poignant stories of Kashmiri half-widows.

The comment is not a slur or an attack on the actress in anyway."

Bipasha Basu has denied reports that she along with boyfriend John Abraham will throw a party for their friend, cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his wife Sakshi Rawat.

“Ok for everyone who thinks me and John are hosting a party for Mahi, just want to say it is a rumour. Not true!” Bipasha clarified through micro-blogging site Twitter.

The Opposition sponsored ’Bharat Bandh’ called to protest price hike in petroleum products today cast its shadow on the Mumbai film and television industry with several shootings being cancelled as a precautionary measure.

Many film shootings were called off in Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari (Filmcity) while in Filmistan Studios there were no shootings scheduled for the day in view of the bandh, sources at the studios in suburban Goregaon said.

Similarly, shooting of daily television soaps scheduled in suburban studios in the metropolis and
neighbouring Thane district were also affected.

Spokespersons of Star TV and Colors said shooting of their shows have been put off during the bandh period.

However, the night shooting will be as per schedule. Federation of Western India Cine Employees President Dharmesh Tiwari said shootings at several locations could not take place as film crew could not reach there.

Meanwhile, actors Anupam Kher and Bipasha Basu shared their concern over rising prices. "Rising prices are alarming! Its time the govt made by the people, starts working for the people.But. can a Bharat Bandh solve anything ?," Bipasha who is in Diu with Ajay Devgn for shooting of Akrosh tweeted.

Kher said his driver Sabir called to tell that he won’t report for duty today. When the actor asked for reason, the driver replied, "Sir price rise is not affecting this Government but it is affecting me".

Being a celebrity can have its downside and Bipasha Basu discovered this rather rudely recently when an ad shot in 1999, which has her gloriously au naturel surfaced on You Tube. The ad, which shows her as a Rajasthani bride getting ready for her wedding to Vivek Oberoi, was released in New York in 1999 to advertise for a lottery whose tag line read ‘All you need is a dollar and a dream’. In the course of getting dressed, Bipasha is shown nude, looking over her shoulder in a way that exposes her breast and as a shimmering dupatta is draped over her, she is seen from the back, entirely nude.

Bipasha is aghast at the mischievious mind responsible for unearthing the ad (which was never released in India) and posting it on the site. Not denying that it is her in the ad she says, “In 1999, I was a model living in the USA and that is where I wanted to make my career. I was young and naïve and when I was told to turn towards the camera in the pose that eventually is in the ad, I did not understand anything about angles. In those days there was no monitor on the sets and I had no idea what was shot.”

“Becoming an actor was not something I had even thought of,” she continues. “I was a kid in bohemia. Today as a mature woman working in India, I would never do such a shoot, not because I have double standards, but because such shots are just not part of our sensibility. It isn’t cool here.” Asked whether a body double was used, Bipasha laughed and pointed out that she remembers someone being there but she has no idea if it was her body double. “I have a very short memory and cannot remember anything that happened more than three years ago. Honestly, I don’t remember anything specific about shooting the ad.” The specifics are out now. Further defending the ad, she says, “It is a beautiful ad and I look great in it. It’s neither sleazy nor a porn. I am proud of the way I look in it.”
